We are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a secure forensic mental health service, providing specialist psychiatric care to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. The service operates across low, medium, and high-security units and involves working with complex forensic cases requiring specialist risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed forensic risk assessments and provide expert witness testimony in court proceedings.
- Develop and oversee rehabilitation pathways for forensic patients transitioning to lower security settings.
- Coordinate care by working closely with probation services, police, and the Ministry of Justice.
- Provide consultation and leadership to forensic nurses, psychologists, and social workers.
- Implement violence reduction strategies and risk management frameworks.
- Participate in multi-agency safeguarding meetings, providing expert advice on criminal responsibility and mental health defenses.
Requirements:
- GMC registration with a CCT in Forensic Psychiatry.
