Band 6 Biomedical Scientist – Histology – London – Permanent Job Title: Biomedical Scientist – Histology Banding: 6 Location: London Hours: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £30 000 to 45 000 per annum The Biomedical Science team at Pulse is currently recruiting a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Histology to work in a busy lab in London. We are looking for a biomedical scientist who can make a real difference in supporting the laboratory’s cellular histology service. Suitable histology biomedical scientist that can do proficient microtomy. What will you be doing in this Biomedical Scientist role? You will assist the Senior Biomedical Scientist and liaise with the Section Head in the day-to-day and strategic management of the Histopathology Department. You will use your skills, theory of Histology, and knowledge to provide a high-quality and effective Histopathology laboratory service, following HCA Labs standing policies and procedures to ensure efficient delivery. You will comply with the code of practice of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and HCPC, and work consistently to ISO 15189 (2012) and UKAS accreditation standards. You will carry out unsupervised routine and complex investigations and analysis of tissue using specialized laboratory equipment. You will be responsible for delegated tasks involved in the organization and delivery of a clinical pathology service with high standards of patient care. You will assist with the teaching of new staff where appropriate and cooperate with supervisory staff and Pathologists in the introduction and development of new techniques. You will maintain good work relationships with all members of staff, promoting effective teamwork. Additionally, you will participate in rotation through all areas of the department and perform timely and accurate processing of samples and laboratory techniques in accordance with departmental SOPs, including QC of slides at send out, frozen section techniques, biopsy transfer, embedding, microtomy, and special staining techniques. Essential Requirements for this Biomedical Scientist position: Degree in Biomedical Science or similar MSc desirable HCPC Registered Experience in a Histology lab Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences is desirable Why work with Pulse?
