Job Description:
The Biomedical Science team at Pulse is currently recruiting a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry to work in a busy hospital in Leeds. We are looking for a biomedical scientist who can make a real difference in supporting the laboratory service. This contract is temporary, with a rate of £22 – £26 per hour. The candidate must be able to cover all shifts as needed (no fixed shifts). You will be required to process biochemistry samples using c8000 equipment and perform technical validation of test results. It is essential to process samples in a timely manner to meet target test result turnaround times.
Responsibilities:
As a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized biochemical analyses using c8000 equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results. You will conduct technical validation of test results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment. Collaborating with clinical teams, you will provide accurate and timely biochemistry results to support patient management, participate in quality assurance programs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will train and mentor junior staff, document laboratory activities, assist in implementing new testing methodologies, and engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of advancements in biochemistry and laboratory technology.
Essential Requirements:
• HCPC registration.
• UK NHS or private sector biochemistry laboratory experience.
• Biomedical science qualification (e.g., BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in a relevant laboratory setting.
• IBM’s portfolio for Band 6 is required.
• Experience with Roche analyzers and associated techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the laboratory demands.
