Banding: Band 5

Location: Northwood

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Ongoing

Rate: £19 – £22 per hour

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, no bank holiday or weekend work required

About the role: The Pharmacy team at Pulse is seeking a dedicated and skilled Band 5 Radio Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Northwood. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Radio Pharmacy team, supporting the safe and accurate aseptic manufacturing and dispensing of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals. The role involves working in a dynamic environment, ensuring compliance with GMP standards and maintaining high-quality service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will manufacture and dispense radiopharmaceuticals and radiolabelled blood components.
  • You will perform blood cell labelling and the manufacture of gallium radiolabelled products.
  • You will oversee production, including critical in-processing checking and documentation completion.
  • You will ensure final products are labelled and ready for release.
  • You will support quality assurance by accurately completing quality documentation and participating in change management, deviation reporting, risk assessments, and self-inspection/audit.
  • You will package radiopharmaceuticals for dispatch to other hospitals, ensuring compliance with standards for the carriage of dangerous goods and radioactive materials.
  • You will maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the Radio Pharmacy and ensure records of the cleaning process are up to date.
  • You will ensure correct use and maintenance of equipment in the Radio Pharmacy by following procedures and keeping maintenance records up to date.

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience/Knowledge:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician.
  • Experience working within Hospital/Community Pharmacy.
  • ACPT Accredited or willing to work towards qualification.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical manufacture.
  • Knowledge of GMP (Annex 1 Manufacture of sterile products).
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical quality management systems.
  • Previous experience in a Radio Pharmacy with proven ability to aseptically manufacture products accurately and without errors.
  • Experience working in an MHRA licensed Radio Pharmacy is preferable.
  • Must be able to arrive on-site by 5am without reliance on public transport.
  • Required to wear personal protective apparel and clean room garments appropriate for a grade B clean room.
