An exciting opportunity has arisen for aPsychologist to join a supportive multidisciplinary team in Warrington, Cheshire. This permanent, part-time position offers flexible working across two or three days per week, with a salary of £49,432.50–£64,818 per annum, depending on experience and banding. Band 7 preceptorship applicants will also be considered.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to work with young people experiencing complex and enduring mental health difficulties, including complex trauma, emerging personality disorder and eating disorders. You will have the opportunity to provide specialist psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions, while also developing your skills in consultation, supervision, teaching, research and clinical leadership. The role involves working collaboratively across a specialist service model, with some travel between locations in Cheshire and the wider Merseyside area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment for young people with complex mental health presentations.
  • Hold a small clinical caseload, allowing you to provide intensive, individualised and innovative psychological interventions.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, contributing psychological expertise to care planning and risk management.
  • Support young people to develop resilience, independence and the skills required to manage their mental health and risks.
  • Provide psychological consultation, training and guidance to colleagues and wider professional teams.
  • Work systemically with staff teams and other professionals involved in the care of young people.
  • Contribute to clinical leadership, service development, audit and research.
  • Deliver teaching and training to professional and non-professional colleagues.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical practice in line with professional guidelines and relevant policies.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of innovative psychological practice within the service.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should ideally have:

  • Doctoral-level training in Clinical, Counselling, Forensic or Health Psychology, with training in two or more psychological therapies.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • At least 12 months' post-qualification experience, or appropriate experience for consideration at preceptorship level.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment across a range of clinical settings.
  • At least six months' experience working within child and adolescent mental health.
  • Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
  • Knowledge and experience of evidence-based psychological therapies relevant to adolescents with complex presentations.
  • Understanding of complex trauma and personality disorder.
  • Strong communication, consultation and interpersonal skills.
  • An awareness of safeguarding procedures and the legislation surrounding adolescent mental health.
  • A full UK driving licence, unless you are unable to drive due to a disability covered by the Equality Act 2010.

Experience with ADOS/autism assessments, eating disorders, inpatient mental health or community mental health would be advantageous.
