This full-time role is available for an immediate start and is initially for 3 months, with the potential for extension. The position will involve providing high-quality speech and language therapy to adult patients in an acute hospital setting, particularly focusing on communication and swallowing disorders. Responsibilities : In this Band 6/7 role, you will be responsible for providing specialist speech and language therapy to adults with a variety of acute communication and swallowing difficulties. You will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a range of conditions, including neurological disorders, stroke, head and neck cancer, and respiratory conditions. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering patient-centered care and contributing to treatment plans. The role involves managing a caseload of both inpatients and outpatients, conducting comprehensive assessments, and providing tailored interventions, including dysphagia management and communication strategies. You will also offer education and advice to patients, carers, and staff to ensure safe and effective swallowing management and communication support. You will need to demonstrate clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced acute care environment. Qualifications and Experience : Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist Significant experience in adult acute speech and language therapy, particularly in managing swallowing and communication disorders Experience working with a diverse caseload, including patients with neurological, respiratory, and head and neck conditions Strong knowledge of dysphagia management, including assessment and intervention Ability to work independently and manage a caseload in an acute hospital setting Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams Experience in providing education and support to patients, families, and staff A commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development Why work with Pulse?
