Position Overview:
As a Consultant in Adult Psychiatry, you will provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to adult service users, addressing a wide range of mental health disorders and concerns. You will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the provision of psychiatric assessment and treatment to adult service users, including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, including junior doctors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers, ensuring the delivery of effective and holistic care.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and risk assessments, formulating and implementing individualized care plans based on evidence-based practice and patient needs.
- Engage in collaborative care planning and discharge planning, liaising with external agencies and community services to facilitate seamless transitions and continuity of care.
- Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives, to enhance service provision and patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Completion of specialist training in Psychiatry and accreditation as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent professional body.
- Substantial experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in adult mental health services, demonstrating expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Excellent clinical skills, including communication, assessment, and management of mental health disorders in adults.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
