As an ITU/HDU nurse, you play a critical role in providing specialized care to patients in the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) or High Dependency Unit (HDU). ITU Nurses responsibilities:
- Assessment, observation, monitoring and charting of vital signs; care planning, treatment implementation, and patient evaluation
- Ensuring all medical equipment is functioning correctly – including ventilators, drains, catheters, IV lines, and pumps
- Communicating effectively and supporting patients, relatives, staff, and others
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records
- Acting as a role model to others in the hospital
- Care for seriously ill patients with complex needs, including multi-organ failure and advanced respiratory difficulties requiring Level 3 care
