Responsibilities
As a Highly Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will
- Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for adults with complex mental health needs.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions in individual, family and group formats.
- Support patients with presentations including autism, complex trauma, personality disorders, functional neurological disorder (FND), eating difficulties, depression, OCD and self-harm.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to develop effective care and treatment plans.
- Offer psychological consultation, advice and guidance to other professionals across the service.
- Contribute to risk assessment and risk management planning.
- Support patients and families throughout their recovery journey and preparation for life outside hospital.
- Supervise and support assistant psychologists, therapeutic support workers and psychology trainees where appropriate.
- Participate in research, service evaluation, quality improvement and audit projects.
- Deliver training and contribute to the ongoing development of psychological thinking across the service.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist.
- Experience working with adults experiencing complex mental health difficulties.
- Excellent assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- A compassionate, professional and recovery-focused approach to patient care.
Desirable
- Experience working within inpatient, forensic, specialist mental health or eating disorder services.
- Experience supporting individuals with autism, complex trauma, personality disorders or other complex co-morbid presentations.
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches such as Trauma-Focused CBT, CBT-ED, DBT, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or neurodiversity-informed interventions.
- Experience in teaching, supervision, research or service development activities.
