Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated Band 6 Occupational Therapist with community mental health experience to join our team in York. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with individuals living in the community, providing support and interventions to promote their independence and well-being. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of individuals’ functional abilities and needs within community settings, including their physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning.
  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on clients’ goals and objectives, with a focus on enhancing their independence and participation in meaningful activities.
  • Providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address a range of challenges, including improving coping skills, managing daily activities, and promoting social inclusion.
  • Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including community mental health teams, social services, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and integrated care delivery.
  • Providing education and support to individuals and their families/caregivers on strategies for managing mental health challenges and maximizing their quality of life.
  • Monitoring clients’ progress and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, making adjustments as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Minimum of two years of post-qualification experience working as an Occupational Therapist in a community mental health setting.
  • Strong clinical skills and expertise in conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions within community settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Commitment to delivering person-centered care and promoting recovery-oriented practices.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support services available to individuals with mental health needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of clients and the organization.
