Job Title: Band 3 Biomedical Support Worker

Location: South Wales
Rate: £14.00 - £16.00 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing
Working Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm (7.5 hours per day)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and organised Band 3 Biomedical Support Worker to join a well-established NHS laboratory in South Wales. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within a busy pathology service, supporting laboratory operations and helping to deliver high-quality diagnostic services to patients.
What will your responsibilities be:
- Assist with duties within the dissection room, supporting specimen handling and preparation processes
- Undertake background laboratory tasks to support Biomedical Scientists and the wider pathology team
- File, archive, and retrieve microscope slides accurately and efficiently
- Assist with specimen reception, storage, and movement throughout the laboratory where required
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organisation in accordance with departmental procedures
- Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety policies and quality standards
- Carry out general administrative and support duties to help maintain an efficient service
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working within a laboratory, pathology, healthcare, or scientific support environment is desirable
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures accurately and consistently
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Understanding of laboratory health and safety practices would be advantageous
- Flexible and proactive approach to work within a busy laboratory setting
