Pulse are recruiting for a leading University who seek an experienced Enterprise Architect. This is a permanent role, with occasional visits required to the London campus (at least once per month). The Enterprise Architect is a key leadership role responsible for defining and maintaining the University's enterprise architecture roadmap. This role will provide strategic direction and technical leadership for the evolution of the University's IT landscape, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and objectives.

The Enterprise Architect will lead the review of the existing on-premise legacy estate, recommend optimal future-state architectures, and develop comprehensive roadmaps for migration and modernization. This position requires a deep understanding of enterprise architecture principles, technology trends, and the unique challenges and opportunities within a higher education environment. The Enterprise Architect will manage a team including a Solutions Architect and a Data Architect.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise Architecture Strategy: Develop and maintain the University's enterprise architecture framework, standards, and principles, ensuring alignment with institutional strategic goals.
  • Roadmap Development: Lead the assessment of the current IT landscape (on-premise legacy systems) and develop comprehensive roadmaps for future-state architectures, including cloud migration (Azure), application modernization (CRM/ERP), infrastructure upgrades, and security enhancements.
  • Technology Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to IT teams on architectural best practices, technology selection, and solution design.
  • Architecture Governance: Establish and enforce architecture governance processes to ensure compliance with standards and alignment with the enterprise architecture roadmap.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders across the University to understand their needs and translate them into architectural requirements.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of architects, including a Solutions Architect and a Data Architect, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Security Focus: Ensure that security considerations are integrated into all aspects of the enterprise architecture, working closely with the security team to mitigate risks.
  • Cloud Strategy: Drive the University's cloud strategy, providing expertise in Azure cloud services and best practices for cloud migration and management.
  • Microsoft Stack Expertise: Leverage deep knowledge of the Microsoft technology stack to design and implement solutions that meet the University's needs.
  • Higher Education Expertise: Apply understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within a higher education environment to develop effective and relevant architectural solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in IT, with a focus on enterprise architecture.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise architecture frameworks and roadmaps.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing principles and experience with Azure cloud services.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technology stack.
  • Experience with application modernization (CRM/ERP) and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing and mentoring technical teams.
  • Ideally, experience working in a higher education environment.
