We are working with a household-name business as it continues to invest heavily in becoming a digital-first, engineering-led organisation. They are now looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join their Web Platform team. This is not a standard frontend engineering role. You will be building the tools, standards, libraries, pipelines and platform capability that web engineers across the business use every day. The Web Platform supports around 150 web engineers and is focused on improving developer experience, productivity and lead time to change.

You will be working across a modern web stack, including:

  • React
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • NX
  • GitHub Actions
  • Playwright
  • Jest
  • Observability tooling

You will need strong hands-on web engineering experience, as well as the ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams. Key areas of focus will include:

  • Improving CI/CD and pipeline reliability
  • Working with monorepo tooling and build performance
  • Creating shared libraries and standards
  • Improving developer experience
  • Reducing engineering toil
  • Supporting technical adoption across teams
  • Coaching and mentoring senior engineers
  • Helping shape how the platform evolves for the AI era

The ideal person will have strong experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript, and a genuine interest in platform engineering and developer productivity. This is a great role for someone who enjoys solving problems for engineers and wants to have a wider impact across a large engineering function.
