We are seeking an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry to join our NHS client based in Manchester, Greater Manchester. This vacancy is available on a locum basis for the successful candidate to start immediately for a short-term contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high-quality first-line medical care for inpatients.
  • Liaise effectively with external professionals and carers.
  • Provide written and oral evidence for Hospital Managers' and Tribunal hearings.
  • Work towards safe discharges, preparing necessary documentation.
  • Be a valued member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure adequate handover to colleagues and seek collateral history.
  • Complete discharge letters and reports as required.
  • Participate in the on-call rota with Consultant Psychiatrists.
  • Prepare hearing reports and provide medical reports.
  • Attend CPA meetings and offer oral evidence under supervision.
  • Contribute to service development through clinical governance activities, audits, research, and teaching.
  • Work effectively with colleagues to ensure appropriate medical cover.
  • Participate in learning activities and supervision.
  • Deliver staff training and share responsibility for taking bloods and ECGs.
  • Provide cover for other specialty doctors and liaise with GPs and practice nurses.
  • Offer emergency treatment and conduct psychiatric assessments to determine appropriate care levels.
  • Arrange clinical tests and follow up on results promptly.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Full GMC registration.
  • Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Section 12 Approved Clinician.
