Occupational Therapists to join their therapy teamon an ongoing locum basis from September.
The service is a specialist day and residential academy for children and young people aged
8-19 years with moderate to severe learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language needs, and additional complex needs .
Set within an extensive campus in Kent, the school offers a highly supportive, multidisciplinary environment focused on helping pupils achieve their full potential and develop essential life skills.
This is an exciting opportunity for Occupational Therapists looking to make a meaningful impact within a specialist educational setting, working alongside teachers, speech and language therapists, support staff, and healthcare professionals to provide integrated, pupil-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions for pupils with a range of additional needs.
- Support pupils to develop functional skills, independence, sensory regulation, and access to learning.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to embed therapeutic strategies across the school environment.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes and annual reviews.
- Deliver both direct and indirect interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Provide advice, guidance, and training to school staff and families where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure best practice standards are met.
Requirements
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Previous experience working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or learning disabilities.
- Understanding of sensory integration principles and occupation-focused practice.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
- Experience within educational or specialist SEN settings is desirable but not essential.
