We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Medical Secretary to join our client's busy Histopathology / Cellular Pathology Department. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast‑paced laboratory environment, providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to Pathologists, Consultants, and the wider Cellular Pathology team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of the department, supporting diagnostic services that are critical to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a full range of medical secretarial and administrative support to the Histopathology department.
  • Manage consultant diaries and correspondence.
  • Audio typing and transcription of clinical reports.
  • Process pathology documentation and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Liaise with clinicians and laboratory staff.
  • Ensure all administrative tasks are completed in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Handle sensitive patient information and manage enquiries from healthcare professionals.
  • Support MDT activity where required.
  • Ensure diagnostic reports are distributed accurately and within agreed timescales.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Medical Secretary, Histopathology Secretary, Cellular Pathology Secretary, or equivalent NHS administrative role.
  • Experience working within Histopathology, Cellular Pathology, Pathology, or laboratory services.
  • Strong audio typing and medical terminology knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a busy healthcare environment.
  • Experience using NHS systems and electronic patient records.
  • Experience with Omni Lab, Apex, or other laboratory information management systems (desirable).
