About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Consultant Histopathologist to join our expanding team within the Department of Diagnostic and Molecular. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a forward-thinking, well-equipped department that is central to cancer diagnostics and molecular pathology in the region.
The department is a UKAS-accredited centre for multiple cancer sites and processes over 35,000 histology, 1,600 diagnostic cytology, and 900 autopsy requests annually. Having recently transitioned to a subspecialty reporting system, and while all applicants are welcome, a special interest in gastrointestinal or dermatopathology is particularly desirable.
Requirements
- Full registration and licence to practise with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register in Histopathology (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
- Applicants that are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
- FRCPath (part 1 and part 2).
Typical Job Plan
A standard 10 PA job plan includes:
- ~7.5 PAs for Direct Clinical Care (DCC): reporting, MDT participation, clinical liaison
- ~2.5 PAs for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA): CPD, audit, teaching, research (increased SPA time for new consultants in the first year)
- ~ Participation in autopsy services and rapid onsite evaluation for EUS/EBUS procedures
- ~ Opportunities for additional sessions and subspecialty development
