Band 6/7 Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Specialist SEN School
Location: Hampshire
Contract: Permanent, Term-Time (39 weeks per year)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Our client is seeking a dedicated Band 6/7 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join their team within a specialist SEN school. This role involves working with children and young people who all have an ASD diagnosis, some of whom may present with challenging behaviour. The focus is on delivering tailored occupational therapy interventions to support students' development, independence, and engagement in education.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver occupational therapy interventions within a specialist school setting.
- Complete functional assessments and develop individualised therapy plans.
- Provide sensory integration-based interventions (SI training desirable, but newly qualified SI practitioners welcome).
- Run group and one-to-one sessions to support fine motor, gross motor, and functional skills.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to embed therapeutic strategies into daily routines.
- Support students in developing independence and confidence in everyday activities.
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working with children and young people with ASD.
- Sensory Integration training desirable (no specific level required).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a supportive and therapeutic manner.
