Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking a confident and experienced Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (SALT) to join the team at Cricket Green Polyclinic in Mitcham. This locum role offers the opportunity to deliver expert care to children aged 0–19 with complex communication needs and eating and drinking difficulties across community and early years settings. You will work as an autonomous practitioner, managing your own caseload and delivering therapy in a variety of environments including clinics, homes, schools, and nurseries. The role also includes supervisory responsibilities and active involvement in service development and clinical education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide highly specialist assessment and intervention for children with complex communication and feeding needs
  • Deliver therapy across community clinics, homes, schools, and nurseries
  • Maintain professional documentation and uphold clinical standards
  • Build and maintain relationships with MDTs, primary/secondary care, and third sector organisations
  • Supervise junior SLTs, assistants, and students
  • Lead and contribute to audits, research, and service development projects
  • Deliver training to professionals and carers, and support CPD initiatives

Requirements

  • HCPC registration (required)
  • Proven experience with early years and dysphagia caseloads
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently across varied community settings
  • Commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice
