We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a dynamic acute team based in Uxbridge, London. This exciting opportunity involves working with adult patients presenting with complex communication and swallowing needs within an acute hospital environment.

You will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and providing specialist interventions for patients requiring support with tracheostomy management, ventilator weaning, and dysphagia, ensuring safe and effective care across the multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for a Band 6 or 7 Speech and Language Therapist with proven acute experience who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage communication and swallowing disorders in adult acute patients.
  • Provide specialist input for tracheostomy and ventilated patients, including assessment, intervention, and staff training.
  • Conduct FEES (Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) assessments independently.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards.
  • Participate in case discussions, ward rounds, and multidisciplinary meetings.
Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership.
  • Demonstrable experience in adult acute settings.
  • FEES competency and tracheostomy/ventilator training (essential).
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to manage a varied and fast-paced caseload independently.
