We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join a busy acute service in Basingstoke. This locum opportunity is suited to a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with experience managing adult acute caseloads and providing specialist dysphagia assessment and intervention. In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary team supporting adults with communication and swallowing difficulties arising from a range of acute medical conditions. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties within an acute setting.
- Provide specialist dysphagia assessment and management in line with professional and clinical guidelines.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support effective patient care and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and reports.
- Provide education and support to patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals.
Qualifications and Experience
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Previous experience working within an adult acute setting.
- Proven experience in dysphagia management, which is essential for this role.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
