We are currently seeking a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist with experience in either Haematology (Morphology) or Transfusion Science (Grifols platform) to join our client’s busy and well-established laboratory service in Yorkshire. This is a full-time, ongoing position offering flexibility in working patterns and a competitive hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing full blood counts, coagulation studies, and detailed blood film morphology
- Ensuring accurate analysis and interpretation of results
- Maintaining quality control and contributing to clinical decision-making
- Conducting blood grouping, antibody screening, and compatibility testing
- Managing urgent transfusion requests in a high-pressure environment
- Operating Grifols platforms (e.g., Erytra, DG Gel) and ensuring compliance with UKAS/MHRA standards
Qualifications and Experience
- HCPC registration
- Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent
- Proven experience in either Haematology (with morphology) or Transfusion Science
- Familiarity with relevant analysers Siemens in Haematology or Grifols in Transfusion
- Experience with Winpath LIMS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- NHS experience (preferred)
