π Consultant Psychiatrist β Forensic Psychiatry

π Start Date: ASAP | Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
π· Rate: Competitive (Outside IR35)
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist in the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality psychiatric care in a secure setting, working closely with a well-established multidisciplinary team to support individuals with complex mental health needs.
π About the Role
The role involves leading on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of service users within a forensic mental health environment. You will provide clinical leadership within a collaborative team that includes an Associate Specialist Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and experienced nursing staff.
π§ Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments in a secure environment
- Develop and oversee individualised care plans in partnership with the MDT
- Prescribe and monitor appropriate treatment, including medication management
- Monitor service usersβ progress and adjust interventions as required
- Provide clinical leadership and specialist input across the service
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice
- Contribute to ongoing service development and quality improvement initiatives
β Essential Criteria
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- CCT in Psychiatry (with Forensic Psychiatry CCT or substantial forensic experience preferred)
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
- Experience working within secure or similar mental health settings
- Strong clinical, diagnostic and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and teamworking abilities
- In-depth understanding of relevant mental health legislation and safeguarding procedures
