Responsibilities

As an obstetric anaesthesia consultant, you are the cornerstone of safe, compassionate care for pregnant patients undergoing labour and delivery. You expertly manage pain relief through techniques like epidurals, provide anaesthesia for caesarean sections and emergency procedures, and respond swiftly to critical situations such as eclampsia or haemorrhage. Your clinical judgment ensures high-risk patients receive tailored care, while your leadership fosters seamless collaboration with obstetricians, midwives, and neonatal teams. You uphold safety by checking equipment, documenting meticulously, and guiding junior colleagues. Beyond the theatre, you shape best practices through audits, teaching, and protocol development—making you not just a clinician, but a guardian of maternal wellbeing.

  • FRCA CCT or CESR
