We’re seeking a Locum Consultant Histopathologist to join a large NHS Trust in Birmingham on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful applicant will:

  • Provide advice on the diagnosis, staging and prognosis of patients suffering from disease.
  • Reporting and interpretation of specimen submitted to the department in line with RCPath guidelines.
  • Work with relevant clinical teams in the provision of comprehensive Histopathology service to the users, including advice regarding appropriate specimen collection and investigations, interpretation of reports and the preparation of policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Answer phone calls to and from clinical colleagues, if required.

CESR support can be offered to applicants wanting to pursue this pathway to GMC-specialist registration.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must have GMC registration or be eligible to join the register within 6-months.
  • Applicants for the substantive position must have GMC specialist registration or be eligible to join the specialist register within 6-months.
  • FRCPath or equivalent.
