You will handle a diverse workload across various surgical specialties, with opportunities for subspecialising.
Responsibilities:- Delivering safe and effective anaesthesia to patients undergoing eye surgery.
- Assessing patients pre-operatively, planning and administering appropriate anaesthetic techniques—often local or regional blocks such as peribulbar or sub‑Tenon’s blocks—and monitoring patients throughout the procedure.
- Working closely with ophthalmic surgeons and theatre teams to ensure optimal surgical conditions and patient safety.
- Managing recovery and pain relief post-operatively, responding to complications, and contributing to teaching, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
