We are currently looking for a Band 6 Locum Senior Physiotherapist to join the team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital in the Medicine department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist with acute medicine or elderly care experience. The role will involve working Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, providing high-quality physiotherapy care to patients in the acute medicine and elderly care wards. The position is available due to maternity leave, with the contract running from November 2024 to April 2025. Accommodation is often available with a variable cost, and there will be an induction and essential training provided to ensure you settle into the role seamlessly.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing, planning, and delivering physiotherapy interventions to patients within the acute medicine and elderly care departments.
- Managing a caseload that includes patients with a range of complex medical conditions.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support the recovery of patients.
- Providing guidance and support throughout the care journey.
- Involved in patient education, offering advice on mobility and recovery strategies.
- Maintaining detailed clinical records.
- Participating in daily ward rounds and managing patient discharge plans.
- Providing supervision to junior staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Physiotherapist with HCPC registration.
- Essential: Experience in Acute Medicine and Elderly Care.
- Desirable: Experience in Acute Respiratory Medicine.
- Proven ability to assess, plan, and deliver physiotherapy treatments in a hospital setting.
- Experience with discharge planning and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills, both with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a varied caseload.
- Familiarity with SystmOne (preferred but not essential).
Induction and Training:
- IT and systems training (SystmOne).
- Local departmental induction and introduction to the team.
- Induction to the ward and caseload supervision.
- Ongoing support with discharge planning and patient management.
