We are seeking a highly skilled and committed Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry to join our NHS client in Beverley, Yorkshire. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work within a secure and supportive environment, providing expert psychiatric care to individuals within the criminal justice system and those with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care within a forensic inpatient setting.
  • Act as an Approved Clinician and hold Section 12 approval under the Mental Health Act.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and treatment planning for patients with complex forensic and mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, legal professionals, and external agencies to ensure safe and effective care pathways.
  • Contribute to Mental Health Review Tribunals, court reports, and legal proceedings as required.
  • Supervise junior doctors and contribute to their training and development.
  • Participate in clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Forensic Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT).
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
  • Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status under the Mental Health Act.
  • Extensive experience in forensic psychiatry and secure mental health services.
  • Strong leadership, risk management, and communication skills.
