Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join the Integrated Community Stroke Service as part of a locum contract. This role involves delivering specialist assessment and rehabilitation for individuals recovering from stroke and living with long-term communication and swallowing difficulties. The caseload primarily includes clients with aphasia, apraxia of speech, cognitive communication disorders (CCD), and dysphagia, requiring a therapist with strong neuro and stroke experience. All work is carried out in clients’ homes, so access to a vehicle is essential. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist looking to make a meaningful impact in a community setting, working autonomously while being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessment and rehabilitation for adults post-stroke with communication and swallowing difficulties
  • Manage a community-based caseload across Bristol and surrounding areas
  • Deliver therapy in clients’ homes, ensuring personalised and effective care
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional standards
  • Collaborate with other health professionals to support holistic recovery
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent)
  • HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
  • Proven experience in stroke and neurorehabilitation
  • Dysphagia training (preferred)
  • Access to your own vehicle for community visits
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
