We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic hospital-based service in West Yorkshire. This role involves providing high-quality assessment and intervention for patients with stroke-related communication and swallowing disorders within an acute setting. Due to the expansion of hospital capacity and the opening of additional beds, there is a growing need for skilled therapists to support hospital flow and manage an increased number of outlier patients. The position offers a varied caseload, with potential to work across inpatient and outpatient outreach settings. A car driver is preferred to facilitate travel between sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage communication and swallowing difficulties in adults with stroke and acquired neurological conditions.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapy and provide timely, effective interventions to support recovery and hospital discharge.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, nursing, and therapy colleagues, to deliver holistic patient care.
  • Contribute to inpatient and outpatient services, supporting continuity of care and community reintegration.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HCPC and professional standards.
  • Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration.
  • Proven experience working within an acute adult setting, ideally with stroke patients.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning and communication skills.
  • A car driver is preferred due to potential outreach and multi-site working.
