Pulse is partnering with a well-known retail brand in the middle of a major digital transformation. For years the business has run on the same core data: what it buys and what it sells. Now, with click and collect live, UK home delivery on the way and a big move from Teradata to Databricks underway, a whole new world of customer and digital data is opening up. They’re looking for a hands-on Reporting Analyst to help shape how all of it gets measured, reported and turned into real insight.
This is a newly created role, so you’ll genuinely get to make it your own. You’ll sit within Data & Analytics, reporting into the Reporting Lead, and work closely with Digital, eCommerce, Data Engineering and Transformation teams. A big part of the job is working out what data the business actually needs, then turning it into reporting people trust and use. Think moving beyond “we sold 400 of these” to “we sold 400, but 3,000 people liked it, so what could we have sold?” It’s a real chance to help the business understand who its customer is.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building and improving reporting that tracks the progress, health and benefits of digital transformation programmes
- Creating executive dashboards, KPI scorecards and operational reports in Power BI and/or Tableau
- Getting stuck into Databricks to access, analyse and make sense of data from multiple sources
- Gathering requirements from business stakeholders and translating them into clear, jargon-free asks for Data Engineering
- Working with engineering on data quality, consistency and reporting standards as the business moves platforms
- Presenting findings to senior stakeholders and steering groups in a way that’s clear and easy to act on
- Spotting opportunities to automate reporting and improve how things get done
What they’re looking for:
- Around 5 years’ experience as a Reporting, BI or Data Analyst, ideally supporting transformation or change programmes rather than BAU reporting
- A strong digital or eCommerce background. Understanding digital performance metrics and online customer journeys is the big one here
- Solid experience building dashboards in Power BI or Tableau (one is absolutely fine, they’re open on this)
- Great communication skills, with the confidence to present to senior leaders and explain complex data simply
- A curious, proactive mindset and a genuine love of using data to drive improvements
- SQL, web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe etc.) and Agile experience are all nice to have
- Retail or omnichannel experience is a bonus but not essential, any type of retailer works
A rare chance to join at the very start of something new and help one of the UK’s biggest retailers really get to know its customers
