Pulse is partnering with a well-known retail brand in the middle of a major digital transformation. For years the business has run on the same core data: what it buys and what it sells. Now, with click and collect live, UK home delivery on the way and a big move from Teradata to Databricks underway, a whole new world of customer and digital data is opening up. They're looking for someone to lead how all of it gets measured, reported and turned into real insight.
This is a newly created role in the digital space, building a reporting function from the ground up. You'll lead a small team of Reporting Analysts and work closely with Transformation, eCommerce, Tech, Product and Business teams. You'll help them understand what's working, what isn't and where the opportunities are. Think moving beyond "we sold 400 of these" to "we sold 400, but 3,000 people liked it, so what could we have sold?" It's a real chance to show the business who its customer is, and to feed those insights back into Retail, Buying & Merchandising and Supply Chain.
What you'll be doing:
- Defining and building the reporting and performance framework for digital transformation, including KPIs, benefits tracking, business definitions and governance
- Leading, coaching and developing a team of Reporting Analysts, setting priorities, standards and clear accountabilities
- Delivering executive dashboards and scorecards that senior leaders trust and actually use to make decisions
- Partnering with Data Engineering and Platform teams on data quality and availability as the business moves onto Databricks
- Overseeing reporting in Power BI and Tableau, and driving automation and governed self-service
- Translating complex data into clear, compelling stories for technical and non-technical audiences alike
What they're looking for:
- Solid experience leading reporting, analytics or BI capability, ideally within a digital transformation
- A strong digital or eCommerce background. Experience taking a business from little or no digital data to something meaningful is the big one here
- People leadership experience is ideal, though someone who's risen quickly and is ready to step up will absolutely be considered
- Expert knowledge of Power BI, Tableau or similar
- A good understanding of modern cloud data platforms (Databricks or similar)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills. Approachable but direct, able to get your point across quickly and influence senior leaders
- Energy, curiosity and a genuine passion for building something new
- Retail or omnichannel experience is nice to have but not essential
Location: Reading (hybrid, 2 days a week in office)
A rare chance to join at the very start and shape how one of the UK's biggest retailers understands its customers
