We invite you to join our growing, entrepreneurial team who want to make net zero a reality.
About the Role:
The Technical Asset Analyst will support the technical and operational management of Pulse Clean Energy's operational BESS and synchronous condenser portfolios, helping to ensure assets operate safely, reliably and efficiently. The role will report into the Technical Asset Manager and work closely with Commercial Asset Managers, the Operations Manager, H&S Manager and Asset Delivery team, as well as O&M providers, OEMs and optimisation partners.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual with 2-3 years' relevant experience in BESS, renewable energy, power generation, electrical engineering, utilities or operational asset management who is looking to develop specialist BESS asset management expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day-to-day technical management of operational BESS assets, monitoring and analysing performance and key technical KPIs, using SCADA and other technical data sources.
- Coordinate annual cyber security assessments and penetration testing of operational assets with specialist third parties and O&M providers, ensuring findings and remediation actions are tracked, implemented and formally closed out
- Assist with troubleshooting OT network and communications issues across operational assets, coordinating with O&M providers, OEMs and specialist contractors to investigate and resolve connectivity and network-related faults.
- Support the management of O&M providers, OEMs and specialist technical contractors, monitoring performance against contractual service levels, KPIs and maintenance requirements.
- Review faults, alarms, outages and underperformance, undertake trend analysis and support root-cause investigations through to resolution.
- Coordinate planned and corrective maintenance activities, site access, inspections, testing and technical interventions, ensuring actions are completed and documented.
- Monitor battery, inverter, transformer, switchgear and other equipment warranties, maintaining records of potential claims and supporting the preparation of technical evidence.
- Maintain accurate technical asset records, including operating procedures, maintenance records, inspection reports, test results, drawings, manuals and compliance documentation.
- Support compliance with HSE requirements, company procedures and relevant technical standards, and assist with incident investigations, audits and site inspections.
- Provide technical input to asset performance reporting and support technical due diligence, commissioning close-out and asset handover into operations.
- Visit operational sites as required to meet contractors, inspect works, support fault resolution and maintain a practical understanding of asset condition.
What you need to succeed:
- 2-3 years' relevant professional experience, ideally within BESS, renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, energy markets, investment or technical asset management.
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy, IT/Networking or another relevant technical discipline.
- Good understanding of electrical and power systems, with knowledge of BESS equipment and performance, including batteries, PCS/inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA, battery degradation, warranties and availability.
- Awareness of OT cyber-security, with the ability to support security assessments and penetration testing and coordinate remediation actions with third-party and O&M providers.
- Basic understanding of OT/industrial networks and SCADA communications, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, network switches, firewalls, VPNs and industrial communication protocols.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets, SCADA information and performance reporting tools.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, including drawings, equipment manuals, maintenance records, specifications and contractor reports.
- Experience working with O&M providers, OEMs, contractors or engineering consultants would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Very organised and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, identify and escalation risks, and propose practical solutions.
- Willing and able to travel to operational project sites around the UK as required.
- Reflect our company values of Teamwork, Leadership and Ethical Stewardship.
