About the Role

Your primary focus will be to ensure the suppliers and contractors are identified and contracted for future projects. The role requires a strong understanding of power equipment, market dynamics, and supply chain management. The role will report to the Director of Asset Delivery and will work closely with the asset delivery, technology and finance teams. This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with four working days being completed in our London office and one from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic sourcing and selection: Develop and implement sourcing strategies for major equipment (battery, inverters, transformers, switchgear) and construction services (e.g., EPC, BoP contractors, civil works, electrical works, engineering design).
  • Negotiating and contracting: Support the negotiation and contracting of major equipment and contractors, ensuring agreements are in place to keep projects on track and on time.
  • Cost optimisation: Prepare, agree, analyse, manage costs and budgets.
  • Relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers/contractors to ensure quality and timely delivery of equipment/services.
  • Reporting & analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on procurement performance, including cost savings, supply chain performance, and risk assessments.
  • Risk management: Identify and mitigate risks related to procurement, such as supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Ethical and sustainable sourcing: Consider ethical and sustainability factors when selecting suppliers and products, promoting responsible procurement practices.
  • Tender management: Lead the tender process; issuing RFIs and RFPs, evaluating responses, and selecting the most suitable suppliers. Prepare and present outcome of tender processes.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Liaise with various stakeholders internally and externally to optimise procurement process.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies throughout the procurement process. Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.

What you need to succeed:

  • Degree level education in engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience with utility scale facility management.
  • Good electrical (low voltage) and switching (high voltage) knowledge and skills.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in renewable energy and/or power sector, with at least 1 year in battery energy storage preferred.
  • An understanding of battery storage technology and Balance of Plant equipment.
  • Experience with utility interconnection, distribution and transmission evaluation.
  • Experience with EPC, BoP contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels.
  • Organised, ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the enthusiasm & drive to work in a high growth environment.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, share information with relevant parties, non-precious attitude.
  • Proactive and keen problem solver who can focus on appropriate detail when solving problems and propose effective solutions.
