Job Summary
As Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our manufacturing facility. You will oversee core accounting activities, manage the transactional finance team, and ensure financial compliance and robust internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of manufacturing accounting principles, cost accounting and inventory management.
Salary on offer £75,000 - £85,000
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, the general ledger, and VAT and other taxes for the company.
- Lead and manage a team of six within the UK finance team, including development plans and clear career paths.
- Own the monthly management accounts, ensuring on‑time submission of data to TASI Measurement.
- Responsible for ensuring the Company’s goals of the business are being enacted and supporting the strategic direction and growth are considered during the day‑to‑day activities.
- Own the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, with a focus on manufacturing‑specific reporting requirements.
- Partner with the Commercial Finance Manager to prepare budgets and forecasts, including manufacturing cost insights and supporting calculations.
- Work with the Commercial Finance Manager to deliver timely, insightful variance analysis against budget and forecast.
- Advise on customer credit limit decisions in a timely manner, escalating to the Finance Director where appropriate, to include managing working capital for the entity.
- Lead continuous improvement across the finance function, ensuring efficient ways of working and tracking progress with relevant KPIs.
- Conduct regular cost analysis to identify opportunities for savings and operational efficiency.
- Prepare sensitive balance sheet reconciliations and review balance sheets prepared by the team.
- Coordinate with external auditors (TASI Measurement and Statutory) during the year‑end audit and ensure statutory reporting meets group deadlines.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Prepare and post payroll/bonus journal entries to the ERP system and reconcile the related balance sheet accounts.
- Carry out other ad‑hoc duties as required.
Travel
Travel will be required to the other Pulsar Measurement locations. This will include global travel.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong management and people skills, with the ability to communicate across all departments and effectively engage with cross‑functional leadership.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the manufacturing sector, with a strong understanding of manufacturing accounting principles and cost analysis.
- Good working understanding of Epicor or a similar ERP system.
- Excellent technical problem‑solving skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proven experience reporting for complex entities of various sizes, with knowledge of UK GAAP and US GAAP requirements.
