About the role:
The Regional Head of Data Centre Operations is a newly created role due to growth in Pulsant's data centre footprint. In this role, you would lead and inspire a regional team responsible for delivering exceptional availability, performance, energy efficiency, and client experience across Pulsant’s central region data centres – currently Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Manchester, and Rotherham.
You will shape how our sites operate—empowering Data Centre Managers, strengthening engineering and operational disciplines, and ensuring we maximise the value of our infrastructure investments and operate safe sites. As a regional leader, you will set the standard for operational excellence, service quality, and continuous improvement, helping us build a consistent culture and a smooth service experience for our clients. This is an on-site role, based from one of Pulsant's data centres in either Manchester, Birmingham, or Milton Keynes and with travel between the sites.
Key responsibilities:
- Leadership & People Development: Act as a role model for Pulsant’s values, building a cohesive, high-performing culture across the region. Provide strong leadership to managers, ensuring clarity of expectations, effective performance management, and continuous development. Coach and support teams to drive continuous improvement in operational capability and customer experience.
- Operational Excellence & Governance: Own mechanical, electrical, and data centre operations across multiple sites, ensuring high levels of availability, safety, and service quality. Ensure robust processes, documentation, and governance are in place for all works and maintenance activities. Own the regional risk register, ensuring risks are identified, managed, and mitigated. Work alongside the operational excellence and compliance teams to conduct regular site inspections ensuring all locations meet business and regulatory standards. Oversee all preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure it is delivered safely on time, and within budget. Lead major capital expenditure activities within the region, ensuring good coordination between M&E teams, site teams, project teams, and clients. Drive value for money by consolidating supplier contracts and reviewing expenditure. Manage regional Opex and Capex budgets, ensuring effective cost control and strong return on investment. Support revenue growth through smart space utilisation and collaboration with sales teams. Work closely with other Regional Heads and the Head of Operational Excellence to embed consistent processes and share best practice. Lead regional initiatives to improve energy efficiency, operational processes, and standards.
What / who we're looking for:
- Experience leading critical data centre operations across multi-site environments.
- Proven success managing senior technical teams in client-facing or colocation environments.
- Strong understanding of data centre availability, capacity planning, engineering best practice, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrable experience managing multi-million-pound Capex and Opex projects.
- Experienced senior manager with a track record of developing people and building strong, collaborative teams.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Able to obtain SC Clearance.
