Job Overview

We are looking for an HGV Technician/Mechanic to join our team in Livingston. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles and trailers for Tesco.

Responsibilities

  • Service, inspection, maintenance and repair of trucks and trailers
  • Electrical, electronic, mechanical and hydraulic fault diagnosis, repair and installation
  • Overhaul electrical equipment and components
  • Setting and operating machine tools and equipment
  • Welding and metal working
  • Department of Transport (MOT) testing preparation
  • Parts ordering and stores management
  • Support team members, including apprentice technicians, as required
  • Accurately record time and detail of completed jobs
  • Carry out inspection and repair of workshop equipment as directed

Qualifications

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent, or proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role in vehicle maintenance
  • Diagnostics skills/qualifications – desirable
  • A valid Class 1 licence – desirable
  • Proficient in using hand tools and power tools
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
