Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (but must be flexible due to business needs)

Salary: Up to £60,000 + Company car or car allowance

What we're looking for: This is an exciting opportunity for a Workshop Manager to join our team. As a Workshop Manager, you'll play a part in keeping some of the UK's biggest brands on the road, at our VMU in Livingston, this is at Tesco distribution Centre. As someone with experience of managing several key areas of a business, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, legal and profitable operation of a Pullman workshop. The Workshop Manager is accountable for delivering a safe environment that is a great place to work, ensuring customers receive industry leading service whilst meeting compliance, revenue and profitability targets.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure that the workshop operates in line with our safe systems of work, and all legislative and H&S processes are followed.
  • Through utilisation of required systems, manage all contract KPIs such as VOR whilst having a strong hold on overhead costs, technician productivity and fleet compliance measures in line with business targets.
  • Manage your team to ensure that the workshop delivers vehicle management and maintenance, including a robust quality control process in line with the terms set out in any customer agreements.
  • Ensure that resource requirements are pro-actively managed to ensure that service delivery is maintained at all times. This may include liaison with suppliers to achieve the appropriate level of agency / contractor support.
  • Setting the standards surrounding compliance, behaviours and work ethics that enable a positive health & safety culture & place the customer at the heart of everything we do.
  • Build and maintain strong customer & supplier relationships.
  • Drive operational excellence and Company standards whilst reducing operating costs, improving efficiencies and sharing best practice across the network.
  • Place process adherence at the core of all activities, in turn ensuring real clarity is known in areas such as MOT progression of works, repair authority & compliance management.
  • Create and implement plans to drive improved engagement & retention with your team.

What you've got:

  • Experience of workshop management & confidence in delivering clear instruction / expectations to team members.
  • Previous experience managing a HGV operation, with an extensive understanding of Operator Licence requirements & transport legislation.
  • Experience managing finance within an operation that results in a sound understanding of P&L levers and contributors, commercial acumen and the ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Experience managing Health & Safety within a busy operational environment with a sound knowledge of H&S fundamentals within the workplace.
  • Experience working with several stakeholders across the business ensuring progression of key implementation activities.
  • Ability to motivate and coach a team of technicians to deliver against productivity targets.
  • Experience of delivering high levels of quality and service to customer.
  • Technical / professional qualifications: Level 3 NVQ Qualified Automotive, Service and Repair (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Ability to travel to other sites within the UK as needed.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
