The Bakery Trainer plays a key role in ensuring production staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to perform effectively. Reporting to the Training Specialist, this role is responsible for delivering hands-on operational training and conducting competency assessments across the bakery floor. The Bakery Trainer supports the development of staff capabilities, helping the factory meet its performance targets through consistent skill-building and coaching.
Tasks:
- Coordinate, deliver and align hands-on, role-specific training to Bakery production staff on all shifts including the night team.
- Conduct regular competency assessments, providing feedback, and ensuring compliance.
- Keep accurate records of training and competency checks.
- Maintain and update the training matrix/LMS ensuring KPI targets are met.
- Hold weekly meetings with managers to identify any skill gaps and agree plan to address.
- Support onboarding of new staff and refresher training for existing employees.
- Use existing training materials effectively and suggest improvements where needed.
- Promote a positive learning culture and encourage continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance training of Food Safety, Health & safety along with company rules and regulations are always followed with high standards and participate in audits on site as required.
- Support Operations by collaborating in creating clear & consistent SOPs for new tasks, machinery or processes.
- Build trust with bakery team and create a safe space for learning, maintaining strong working relationships with others in the L&D team, HR, bakery and the wider business.
- Actively involved in new practices or processes to support change management.
Skills:
- Experience working in a factory or manufacturing environment.
- Confident delivering hands-on training with individuals and small groups in production and classroom-based environments.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative and well as part of a team.
- IT skills – Good level, able to use Microsoft Office and LMS system.
- Ability to identify training needs and use or adapt existing training materials to suit different learning styles and competency.
- Familiarity with training records, competency checks, and skills matrices.
- Preferred: Train the Trainer qualification or similar training certification.
