The Bakery Assistant in Despatch is responsible for ensuring orders are picked correctly, safely and in a timely fashion. They will follow all health and safety and food safety regulations and highlight any issues immediately.
Tasks:
- Accurately case picking according to customer orders.
- Ensure all picked items match the correct quantity and product specifications.
- Handle cases with care to prevent damage and maintain quality.
- Follow health and safety, hygiene, and food safety regulations at all times.
- Operate warehouse equipment (pallet trucks, hand scanners etc.) safely and efficiently.
- Work closely with the despatch team to ensure timely order completion.
- Assist with stock replenishment, rotation, and general housekeeping.
- Report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or shortages to the despatch L3 or FLM.
- Meet daily performance targets while maintaining high accuracy levels.
Skills:
- Essential:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or picking/packing role.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work to deadlines.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Desirable:
- Experience in a food distribution environment.
- Familiarity with using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems.
- Forklift or pallet truck experience (if applicable).
