We are seeking a Safeguarding Officer (Known as Stay Safe Officers in the group) to join our Student Life team at our new Pudsey Sixth Form College (based on Kent Road). In this vital role, you will help ensure effective safeguarding arrangements are in place, taking a restorative approach that puts student welfare at the forefront. You'll be part of a team committed to student wellbeing, personal development, and behaviour, delivering outstanding support services including safeguarding, mental health, and wellbeing. Building on our Ofsted-recognised success, you will help drive a strong, supportive safeguarding culture across the college.
What You Will Do:
- Manage a caseload of students with safeguarding concerns, building supportive relationships and delivering one-to-one or group interventions.
- Record safeguarding work promptly and accurately using CPOMS and other relevant systems, ensuring compliance with reporting procedures.
- Provide supervision and guidance to departmental safeguarding officers, offering expertise on complex cases.
- Plan and deliver staff training on safeguarding topics, promoting awareness and best practices across the institution.
- Act as a key contact for external agencies, attending multi-agency meetings and coordinating external support.
- Lead safeguarding campaigns in collaboration with curriculum teams, marketing, and the student union to raise awareness of key issues.
About You:
- Level 2 / Designated Safeguarding Officer trained.
- A recognised qualification in at least one area of expertise in safeguarding, health and care to a minimum of NVQ 3 or equivalent, or substantial experience.
- Recent experience working as a designated safeguarding officer.
- Experience of working with vulnerable groups in an educational setting.
- Up to date knowledge and experience of a range of safeguarding issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a good listener who is non-judgemental and able to be adaptable to the needs of staff and students.
