Job Title: Specialist Teacher ofSEND - Permanent
Grade: MPS/UPS
Salary: Β£32,916 - Β£51,048 (payaward pending)
Start date: January 2027
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committedteacher to develop their expertise in SEND leadership within Pudsey GrammarSchool. The post holder will work closely with the Assistant Headteacherfor SEND and Inclusion and will have meaningful responsibility for thedevelopment and management of SEND provision, curriculum and case management.The role is particularly suited to a teacher who has aspirations to become aSENCO in the coming years and wishes to develop the leadership, organisational,curriculum and statutory knowledge required for this progression. The school is committed to developing talented staff andopportunities for advancement and promotion do exist, dependent upon staffmovements, school structures and the capabilities of the individual postholder. The successful candidate will be supported to develop their SENDleadership expertise and will have opportunities to gain experience across thekey areas of SENCO responsibility. The school encourages training both in-house and externally tomeet the needs of the individual and the Service. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake relevantprofessional development in SEND, inclusive practice, EHCPs, case management,curriculum development, intervention, safeguarding and SEND leadership. Particular opportunities will be identified to support thesuccessful candidate in developing towards future SENCO responsibilities,including gaining experience in strategic SEND leadership, statutory processes,multi-agency working, staff development and evaluation of SEND provision.
The role involves:
- Supportingthe Assistant Headteacher in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records ofstudents with special educational needs.
- Coordinatingthe scheduling of interventions, meetings, and assessments, ensuring efficientuse of resources and staff availability.
- Monitoringand tracking student progress, documenting outcomes and adjustments asnecessary.
- Maintainingconfidentiality and sensitivity when handling student information and records
- Liaisingwith External Agencies
- Workingwith families and the community.
- Providingsupport to the wider Student Support Team
- Ensuringall five components of the original 'Every Child Matters' entitlement are metfor each subject
Applicants will need to demonstrate:
- Excellent attention to detail,effective analytical skills and strong inter-personal and communication skills,together with the ability to work as part of a successful team.
- Appropriate qualifications and/orrelevant experience in working with young people in this role.
- A commitment to:
- Working in line with statutory safeguardingguidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, prevent and our safeguardingand child protection policies)
- Taking responsibility for receiving and acting uponany reported concerns and ensuring that the Child Protection Policy isimplemented and promote best safeguarding practice across the school as part ofthe Student Support Team.
