£16.75 – £21.00 Per Hour Depending On Experience. A privately owned Environmental Services business that supports a range of industries with a variety of services is seeking an experienced HGV Fitter / Mechanic Technician to join their workshop team near Bridgend. The role is predominantly HGV-focused, working on a modern fleet of heavy goods vehicles and associated plant, with some involvement with a variety of vans. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HGV mechanic who takes pride in high standards of maintenance, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair HGVs
  • Carry out Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on HGV fleet vehicles
  • Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and inspections, including booking and compliance
  • Accurately record workshop time, defects, and repairs
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workshop environment (including COSHH)
  • Liaise with the workshop manager regarding required parts and workshop stock
  • Provide technical support to operational teams regarding HGV defects or breakdowns

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an HGV Fitter / Mechanic
  • Strong HGV diagnostics and fault-finding skills
  • Solid knowledge of HGV systems including engines, braking systems, suspension, hydraulics, and electrics
  • Confident using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Full UK Driving Licence (required)
  • HGV licence desirable but not essential
