Canongate Books is looking for a highly organised and data-savvy Operations and Amazon manager to join their Sales team for a maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of their operations business, including managing their Amazon print relationship. You will take a leading role in the smooth running of Canongate’s sales operations, looking to streamline processes and aid smart decision-making.

This role requires excellent critical thinking, along with the ability to understand and interrogate systems and to interpret and present data. Good Excel skills are essential and experience using Power BI or similar is preferred. Previous experience working with Amazon would be useful, but is not essential. They would love to hear from you if you genuinely enjoy working with numbers and data and using what you discover to implement tangible changes to the way they run their sales business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Running their Amazon print business, including inventory management, forecasting, troubleshooting issues and managing promotions.
  • Working with their distributor on areas such as stock management, delivery schedules and special releases, and responding to their queries.
  • Creating, updating and circulating reports.
  • Providing sales figures and insights to colleagues, both ad hoc and on a regular basis.
  • Using internal and external sales, inventory and bibliographic systems to a high level.
  • Playing an active role in the running of the sales team, using your knowledge of operations, reporting and logistics to contribute in a proactive and practical manner.

Contract: This is a full-time, maternity cover contract and will last for a minimum period of nine months starting from July 2026.

Location: The role can be based in either the Canongate Books Edinburgh or London office. The position offers hybrid home and office working.

Salary: £34k-£36kpa, depending on location and experience.
