Literature Alliance Scotland is looking for an experienced, freelance literature professional with superb administrative skills to join LAS on a 12 month contract as their Programme Coordinator. Due to the nature of their network, they will prioritise applications from literature professionals based in Scotland.
The Programme Coordinator (freelance) will work closely with the Board and Transformation Manager. You will play a central role in supporting LAS members and delivering our annual programme of activity for 12 months from June 2026.
Key tasks:- Coordinate programme delivery in line with strategic priorities
- Act as a key administrative and communications contact
- Support and engage the LAS membership network
- Support and coâordinate the development of the Scottish Book Festival Network
You will also be expected to attend and present at quarterly Board meetings, support fundseeking for future programmes and support data gathering and presentation for their ongoing research project, Mapping The Sector.
Experience:- Proven experience of budget planning
- Proven experience of project management, demonstrating strong organisational and administrative skills
- Proven experience running accessible and inclusive events (in person and online)
- Experience of working with a trustee board or similar governance framework
- Experience of working with diverse stakeholder groups
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Firstârate communications skills (written and verbal)
- Sound understanding of the literature sector in Scotland
- Commitment to and sound understanding of accessibility, inclusion and equitable practice
About LAS: Literature Alliance Scotland (LAS) is a membership network of literature organisations, constituted as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). Their work reflects the collective interests of their members. Strategic direction and governance are led by a volunteer Board of Trustees drawn from member organisations. The vision is for LAS to be an engaged, efficient and visible network whose activities have a measurable and positive impact.
Their programme for 2026/27 is a celebration of their 10th anniversary as LAS and marks the midpoint in their ongoing transformation process as they ask themselves â what is the literature sector in Scotland now? Through their monthly eânewsletters and LinkedIn they aim to connect the literature sector in Scotland with relevant resources, professional development opportunities, jobs and events, as well as highlighting the work and achievements of their membership. They launch their new website and visual refresh in June 2026, alongside their 2026-27 programme.
This includes a second round of their Writer Bursaries pilot and their partnership with Coaching for Creatives on To Be Continued; Monthly network meetings online; Delivering targeted training and skills development through partnerships; Their annual, in person Sector Day in spring 2027; Providing a new home for the Scottish Book Festivals Network.
Contract: 8 days a month over 12 months at ÂŁ180/day (total value ÂŁ17,280), worked flexibly.Location: LAS anticipate you will work remotely. Occasional desk space may be available by arrangement with member organisations. Some travel within Scotland will be required: travel/out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed subject to appropriate authorisation.
