Publicis is seeking an experienced, self‑motivated flexible Data Privacy Lawyer to assist our Media, Creative, Health agencies and Publicis Sapient in the UK. This is a full‑time position in London. You will be a member of our Global Data Privacy Office (GDPO) and report to a senior member of the GDPO. The role is broad and involves advising our business on the various privacy risks, obligations and other issues related to privacy. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated excellent legal and privacy judgment alongside strategic thinking. We would also like someone who is diligent, proactive, practical and fun to work with.

Responsibilities

  • Key point of contact for data privacy‑related enquiries for our Media, Creative, Health agencies and Publicis Sapient in the UK.
  • Support internal teams, providing them with appropriate advice and guidance, with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with diverse cross‑functional teams.
  • Provide support to members of the commercial and employment legal teams on privacy matters and serve as subject matter expert on all privacy issues relating for topics impacting the business and employees across the Groupe.
  • Collaborate with our Global Data Privacy Operations team to adapt data governance materials such as inventory templates, vendor due diligence questionnaires, proprietary system questionnaires, and privacy impact assessment questionnaires.
  • Assist the commercial legal team in drafting, reviewing and negotiating data privacy provisions in complex commercial contracts.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all relevant privacy legislation and regulations and distribute this knowledge across both the legal function and the wider business.
  • Provide data protection and privacy advice relating to data partnerships and vendor relationships.
  • Help develop data privacy training materials and conduct privacy trainings.

Qualifications

  • Qualified UK solicitor, EU lawyer or common law jurisdiction equivalent.
  • Privacy certification (such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US from IAPP or similar) is desirable.
  • 3+ years of legal experience, ideally within privacy but commercial and privacy combined experience will also be considered.
  • Flexible working with a minimum of three days a week in the London office.
  • In‑house legal experience is desirable, particularly AdTech or technology experience with knowledge of digital advertising, including providing digital advertising/media counselling and transactional support to digital media companies, publishers, social media marketing, or online platforms in the AdTech/data space (i.e. ad serving, programmatic, data management, measurement, and analytics).
  • Direct experience applying European and UK privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for media and advertising.
  • Commercially minded with good communication and inter‑person skills to enable the individual to work with all levels of internal management and negotiate with external clients.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic data protection and privacy subject matter expert, with good knowledge of the latest regulatory changes and the related impacts on the media and advertising industry.
  • Able to work in fast‑paced environment, provide advice under tight deadlines and competent in managing a varied workload independently.
  • A good sense of humor.
