Overview

The Platform Engineering Manager leads engineering teams to design, build, and optimize core platform services and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance of enterprise systems. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders, implementing agile processes, and managing environments for consistency and reliability.

Responsibilities

Platform Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor platform engineering teams to deliver scalable systems.
  • Define and uphold best practices for architecture and engineering standards.
  • Drive innovation focusing on automation and resilience.

Agile Process & Team Management:

  • Implement agile methodologies across engineering teams.
  • Facilitate sprint rituals like planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Collaboration & Delivery:

  • Partner with Product, Data, and DevOps teams to meet business needs.
  • Manage platform upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Oversee monitoring, incident response, and ongoing improvements.

Environment Management:

  • Maintain engineering environments for consistency, security, and reliability.
  • Manage version control, release processes, and environment availability.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Extensive platform engineering experience with leadership roles.
  • Proven management of large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Expertise in containerization, orchestration, and automation frameworks.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Understanding of agile delivery practices and environment management.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
