The Director, Data Strategy reports to the SVP of Global Reporting and is responsible for executing the Global reporting roadmap, leading implementation of global reporting solutions across assigned brands or markets, and operationalizing the measurement framework day to day.

This position requires both strategic and tactical skill sets with an eye for numbers, intellectual curiosity, proficiency at problem solving, and a critical understanding of media. The candidate must have a proven track record of leading the implementation of reporting dashboards across brands and markets.

Successful candidates will be multi-dimensional, able to employ complex problem-solving skills, and able to communicate these succinctly to a broad client and media stakeholder audience. Analytics, Insights, Data, Technology and Innovation (DTAI) subject matter experts are a vital part of the client team. They function as expert technical points of escalation, analytical problem solvers and technical translators to internal account teams and clients, and support the SVP in delivering strategic account direction/vision for technology, process and digital reporting/insights.

Role Objectives:

  • The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in how to intersect consulting skills, data, advanced analytics and marketing strategy to drive and improve clients' business results.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of the global reporting dashboard for assigned brands/markets, acting as primary POC and first-line escalation point, partnering with the SVP on cross-market issues.
  • Support global reporting network management, ensuring consistency and alignment across regional teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and client groups.
  • Champion a culture of 'always on' data-driven decision making, helping institutionalize the use of consumer-driven analytics in media/marketing investment planning.
  • Manage data integrations utilizing taxonomy nomenclature and make recommendations for data visualization to showcase media performance through the use of PowerBI, Datorama, or Tableau.
  • Lead a team to perform regular quality assurance/quality control checks on assigned client campaigns to ensure data is processing accurately.
  • Operationalize testing as it relates to ensuring taxonomy and necessary ad server/verification tracking has been applied.
  • Escalate systemic issues, resourcing needs, and roadmap risks to the SVP with clear recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6–8 years cumulative experience within Media, Analytics, and related fields working at an advertising agency.
  • Experience leading and managing marketing technology projects from ideation through installation.
  • Experience with online advertising/media, channel marketing, strategic marketing, off-line advertising/media and/or consulting.
  • Experience working with international teams is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Datorama, Tableau, or other data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate/translate complex concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Client management/consultative experience.
  • Experience with media measurement tools including: 3rd party ad serving, syndicated research and web analytics.
  • Demonstrated expertise in core MS Excel functions (vlookup, pivot tables, data visualization).
  • Experience designing jobs that can be promoted from one (Dev) environment to another (Test or Prod) seamlessly, without modification.
  • Working understanding of SSIS and ETL best practices within a MS SQL Server environment.
  • Familiarity with SSIS error handling, error propagation and email notification.
  • Exposure to statistical modeling software (MATLAB, R, SAS, SPSS, Python) and database tools (Amazon Web, SQL, MS Access, Excel PivotTables, MS SQL Server) a plus.
