Are you passionate about helping people lead healthier, more active lives? Do you have experience delivering community-based activities and engaging with young people and families? We're looking for a Community Physical Activity Officer to join our Community Wellbeing team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by helping residents overcome barriers to physical activity and supporting some of the district's most vulnerable communities.

Working alongside local partners, schools, clubs and community organisations, you'll help bring high-quality sport and physical activity opportunities within reach of those who need them most, particularly young people and families experiencing financial disadvantage. As Community Physical Activity Officer, you'll play an active role in developing, coordinating and delivering a range of programmes designed to improve health and wellbeing across the district.

You will:

  • Support residents facing barriers to participation in sport and physical activity
  • Plan and deliver engaging activity sessions within community and school settings
  • Build strong relationships with schools, clubs, partner organisations and community groups
  • Monitor participation levels and contribute to programme reporting
  • Coordinate the deployment of casual staff and sports coaches
  • Support the delivery of initiatives including You Move and Move Together
  • Assist with budget monitoring and programme development
  • Help ensure activities are delivered safely, effectively and in line with safeguarding requirements

This is a varied role that combines project development, partnership working, administration and hands-on delivery, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working both in the community and behind the scenes.

Please note that this post is up to 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.

You will need:

  • A minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2 or GCSE at Grade C/4 or above, must include Maths and English
  • Coaching/fitness qualification (UKCC level 2 or equivalent)
  • Empathy and ability to communicate with people in a supportive manner
  • Experience of planning and delivering community-based activities
  • Experience of working with families and/or young people

Special Conditions:

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS Check
