We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Environmental and Regulatory Officer to join our Environmental Health team, with a specialist focus on Private Water Supplies. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced officer looking to develop their regulatory and investigative expertise while helping protect public health and the environment.

You will lead on the regulation and monitoring of private water supplies in accordance with the Private Water Supplies Regulations 2016 (as amended) and the Water Industry Act 1991. The role involves carrying out inspections, investigations, sampling programmes and enforcement activities to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and safeguard water quality across the district. You will also investigate complex environmental pollution issues, provide specialist regulatory advice, and represent the service at court proceedings, planning hearings and committee meetings where required.

This role can be based in Cirencester, Coleford, Witney with a mix of agile and home working.

You will need:

  • A qualification in your area of expertise, equivalent to a degree or relevant experience of 3 years
  • Experience of working in or with Local Government
  • Experience of working flexibly as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Experience of being involved in continuously improving services and developing products to meet customer need
  • Ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging customers and environments
